One day after being shut out on its home courts, Minnesota's women's tennis team picked up its first win of the Big Ten season. The Gophers downed Wisconsin 4-3 on Sunday in dramatic fashion. On Saturday, Minnesota fell 7-0 to the Big Ten's elite team, ninth-ranked Northwestern.

Fresh off a pair of conference wins last weekend, the Minnesota men's tennis team will look for two more this weekend when they face Northwestern and Wisconsin. The Gophers (9-9, 3-1 Big Ten) battle the Wildcats (9-7, 3-2 Big Ten) at noon Saturday in Evanston, Ill., and the Badgers (8-8, 1-4 Big Ten) at noon Sunday in Madison, Wis.

Minnesota's men's tennis team came just short of upsetting No. 7 Ohio State on Sunday at the Sports Pavilion. After getting swept in all three doubles matches, the Gophers battled back and nearly won enough singles matches to knock off the Buckeyes. But Ohio State still prevailed 5-2. "I thought we had a really good shot to win it," junior Nic Edlefsen said.
