For Minnesota's men's swimming and diving team, this weekend's triple duals serve as a test. And Gophers coach Dennis Dale said pass or fail, they need the test above all else. The Gophers host Wisconsin and Purdue this weekend, beginning at 6 tonight at the University Aquatic Center. The meet concludes noon Saturday.

Minnesota's women's swimming and diving co-coach Kelly Kremer said his team is getting more and more confident with each competition. But he also remarked that it's a building process, and that the Gophers "are going to be real good." But perhaps Minnesota's women are closer to being good than expected.

On a day when seniors were being recognized for their achievements, it was a freshman who stole the show. Minnesota's women's swimming and diving team topped Ohio State 184-114 on Saturday at the University Aquatic Center, thanks in large part to freshman Yuen Kobayashi's record-setting performances.

The Indianapolis Colts, who were at one point a perfect 13-0 and on the verge of the perfect season, lost their first playoff game to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday 21-18. Some would argue the loss had a lot to do with the fact that the Colts had a month off between their 13th win and their season-ending loss.

Minnesota's men's swimming and diving team extended its perfect record Saturday against Arizona State. The eighth-ranked Gophers concluded their western winter training trip with a 176-124 win over the Sun Devils at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz., pushing their record to 8-0 on the year.

After nearly three days of competition and 20 events, the Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships came down to a 25-yard sprint to the finish. And after 3,524 points were handed out to the 10 teams competing, it was an eight-point swing, meted out in a 10-yard section of the University Aquatic Center, that made all the difference.
