Banham named All-America

Rachel Banham added another award to her collection on Monday, even after the official close to her Minnesota basketball career.

The redshirt senior guard was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press for the first time in her career. Banham previously was an honorable mention All-American in 2013 and 2014.

She finished second in the nation in points with 914 this season and second in scoring average at 28.6 per game. Both marks are school records.

The 2016 Big Ten Player of the Year also ended her collegiate career as the Big Ten’s all-time leading scorer and the sixth-leading scorer in NCAA history with 3,093 career points.

Banham gives the Gophers a First Team All-American for the second consecutive year under head coach Marlene Stollings, as center Amanda Zahui B. appeared on the first team last season.
