Banchalee Theinthong led Minnesota with an aggregate 1-over par.

The Gophers women’s golf team was back at it over the weekend and tied for sixth at the Web.com Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Minnesota shot an aggregate 20-over par over the course of the three-round tournament. It finished more than 30 strokes behind champion Florida State. The Seminoles finished 24 strokes ahead of the second-place team.

“We’re pleased with the way we’ve been playing this spring and the way we’ve prepared for the Big Ten championships later this month,” Minnesota head coach Michele Redman said said in a release. “We had a great day to open the tournament this week, and I was happy to see our entire team give everything they had both days against some very talented teams.”

Banchalee Theinthong led Minnesota with a final score of 1-over par. She shot an opening-round 68, good for the best round of her collegiate career. Theinthong, a senior, finished tied for 13th overall, but was 13 strokes behind individual champ Matilda Castren from Florida State.

Anna Laorr, Carmen Laguna, Emie Peronnin and Sarinee Thitiratanakorn rounded out the scoring roster for the Gophers.

This was Minnesota’s final tune-up before the Big Ten championsihps in French Lick, Ind., in a couple weeks.
