Pet Away Worry and Stress expands to summer

On Wednesday, the University of Minnesota’s Pet Away Worry and Stress initiative opened over the summer for the first time. Students, staff and community members were able to spend the afternoon with dogs, a cat, bunnies and Tilly the therapy chicken.

A new smartphone app made at the University of Minnesota aims to decrease construction zone crashes. The app, Workzone Alert, delivers in-vehicle alerts to drivers in construction work zones through Bluetooth.


Boynton expands mental health clinic

Boynton Health recently underwent a costly renovation to expand its mental health clinic. The approximately $260,000 revamp opens a new 5,237 square foot space for patients and staff on the first floor of the building.


Nutritious U Food Pantry plants the seeds for fall

Max Lettenberger plucked weeds from the ground Thursday in the warm May sun. Lettenberger was working in Nutritious U Food Pantry’s new garden plot, which started this month and will provide one-third of the pantry with up to 1,300 pounds of fresh vegetables: from lettuce to onions and Chinese mustard greens. The group’s founder, Rebecca Leighton, a second-year graduate student in the School of Public Health, started Nutritious U Food Pantry to help with food insecurity and emergencies at the University.
