Football players accused of sexual assault to get hearings this week

The suspended Gophers football players accused of sexual misconduct will have closed-door University hearings this week to determine if they will be disciplined, the Star Tribune reported Wednesday evening. In day-long hearings Thursday and Friday, the players accused of sexually assaulting a woman in September will plead their cases to the University committee that hears sexual misconduct cases, according to the Star Tribune.


Dinky shooting of two Muslim men may be ‘bias-motivated’

A shooting that injured two Muslim men early Wednesday morning in the Dinkytown area will be investigated as a possible “bias-motivated crime,” according to the Minneapolis Police Department. At about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, two victims were shot near the intersection of 14th Avenue Southeast and Sixth Street Southeast, about one block from the University of Minnesota.

A shooting that injured two Muslim men early Wednesday morning in the Dinkytown area will be investigated as a possible “bias motivated crime,” according to the Minneapolis Police Department. At about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, two victims were shot near the intersection of 14th Avenue Southeast and 6th Street Southeast, about one block from the University of Minnesota. In the attack, an assailant allegedly made disparaging remarks about Muslims before firing at five men dressed in Islamic attire, according to a campus-wide public safety update issued Friday afternoon.


Search for missing U student continues

More than 70 police officers from several agencies scoured Dinkytown and University of Minnesota area Friday in an unsuccessful attempt to locate a University student missing since Tuesday. Friday’s “grid search” follows a wide-ranging search conducted with boats, helicopters, drones and K-9s Thursday to locate David Miller, a third-year student in the College of Biological Sciences. Miller, 20, was last seen leaving Wilkins Hall at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.
