Average football attendance falls after 30-year high

 Average announced attendance at Gopher football games fell sharply after near-record numbers. Reported numbers show that average turnout was down about 8,500 per game after hitting 52,000 last year — a 30-year high.


University of Minnesota's freshman class features upswell in diversity

More students of color and applicants from outside the Upper Midwest helped shape the University of Minnesota’s class of 2020 — the biggest since 1970, according to recently-released freshmen data. The class of 5,880 students — which is more diverse than recent years — is part of the University’s effort to increase enrollment in select colleges, said Dean of Undergraduate Education Bob McMaster. The population of students of color has increased from previous years, making up 22.3 percent at the Twin Cities campus, versus 19.5 percent in 2012.


Wilson Library to get $60 million upgrade

A scarcity of space for Wilson Library’s growing catalog could be alleviated by more than $6 million in renovations starting next month. A smaller upgrade, including a new space for group work, will begin Nov.


Report details 'serious misconduct' with J Robinson's handling of team's drug problem

Former University of Minnesota wrestling team head coach J Robinson tried to shield Minnesota wrestlers allegedly involved in a drug ring from punishment, while obstructing investigations of the claims, a University investigation has found. The thirty one-page, partially redacted report, released Wednesday, was launched after allegations surfaced that Robinson sought to internally handle a drug use and distribution ring among wrestlers that formed early this year.
