Southeast Como residents have noticed a spike in neighborhood traffic with the arrival of new businesses. While longtime favorites like Black Coffee and Waffle Bar and Manning’s continue to serve residents, new restaurants like Blue Door Pub and Ramen Kazama are quickly piling in.

Varsity Theater will reopen its doors in Dinkytown on Friday for its first public concert since December 2016. The venue has undergone improvements in the past year in anticipation of the reopening. Businesses neighboring the theater saw a drop in traffic following its closure more than a year ago and are now welcoming the venue’s return.

Students, recent grads and even some local property managers are hoping to lease their campus spaces on Airbnb during Super Bowl weekend. Those hoping to cash in on Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis this weekend hope to use the short-term rental service to make money from the influx of visitors. But not all have found success in their pursuit for profit. 


Stadium Village businesses prepare for Super Bowl windfall

Stadium Village businesses are expecting a spike in sales when Super Bowl LII comes to Minneapolis next weekend.  Super Bowl ticket holders will flock to the Stadium Village light rail station on game day. The Green Line stop will be the check-in point for ticket holders boarding nonstop Metro Transit trains to U.S. Bank Stadium.


Prime Place rebrands as The Arrow in an attempt to escape criticism

Prime Place Apartments rebranded in an attempt to escape criticism following a year filled with construction delays, fire code violations and resident complaints. Last week, Prime Place tenants noticed new signage and flyers labeled The Arrow decorating the building. Residents say they were not informed of the rebranding.
