Dr. Date,

I’ve been struggling with this for a long time, and I just got to get it out: What’s an adequate amount of sexual partners to have had in college? Five? 10? 20? I’ve been keeping my tally, and I’m starting to worry that I’m a slut. Without broadcasting my number all over campus, can you ease my conscience?

Dear Dr. Date,

I have to disagree with something in your column the other day.

I am still friends with an ex that I used to be insanely in love with, and we have a difference of five years — I am career-focused and in grad school, which has become my life. He’s still caught up in the undergrad drunken silliness. (He recently decided to attempt a douchebag look with earrings and backwards baller cap.) I asked him why he decided to dress like a 50 Cent poser, suburban white kid, and he asked me why I was now dressing like a geography teacher!

Dr. Date,

I have an old-fashioned crush Q for you. I like this girl I used to work with, but now I don’t work there anymore. I thought the feelings would pass along with my employment ending, but I still get the feelings when I see updates or photos from her on Facebook. We had very little in common and didn’t talk much. So how do I 1) find a “normal” reason to talk to her so we can get to know each other more and 2) make my move?

Dr. Date,

I was in a long distance relationship that ended two years ago. I recently bumped into my ex (he lived in St. Cloud, Minn.) and realized I still get all the butterfly feelings I used to.

I know that it’s not the right relationship for me right now — he’s six years my junior, and I feel that he still has a long way to go to match my values. But I can’t ignore my feelings. He’s managed to keep in touch since the breakup two years ago. We don’t talk often or anything … but … why maintain contact?

Dr. Date,

I have been seeing a guy for a very short period of time; we’ve been hanging out/talking consistently for about two weeks now. I know it’s headed somewhere good, but I’m wondering about Christmas.

Dear Dr. Date,

After a breakup, am I expected to un-friend my ex on Facebook? Is that the new social norm, or are my friends just crazy?
