One year in Madison was enough for Wisconsin freshman forward Kyle Turris.

The third overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft signed with the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday - less than 24 hours after the Badgers were knocked out of the NCAA tournament, according to Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney.

"We are very excited to sign Kyle and have him join the Coyotes organization," Maloney said in a press release. "He is a very talented player and is a big part of our future."

After winning their second straight Big Ten indoor track and field title earlier this month, the Gopher women's track team will head to Arkansas to compete in the NCAA Indoor championships.

The event will be held starting at noon today and Saturday.

Five athletes and a relay team will represent the Gophers at the tournament, who have a legitimate chance at a top-10 finish. Their best finish to date was last season, when they came in 12th.

The Minnesota men's tennis team lost its opening spring Big Ten dual this weekend, falling 6-1 to second-ranked Ohio State Sunday afternoon at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The two-time defending Big Ten Champion Buckeyes are now on a 24-match conference winning streak after disposing of the Gophers.

Minnesota (2-10 overall, 0-1 Big Ten) dropped the doubles point quickly, then proceeded to lose five-of-six singles matches.

The lone victory for coach Geoff Young's squad was at No. 4 singles where sophomore Dino Bilankov defeated OSU's Shuhei Uzawa 4-6, 6-3 (10-7).

The Minnesota men's golf team may have faced a tough field last weekend in Puerto Rico, but it pales in comparison to the competition the Gophers will run up against this weekend.

Play begins today at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas at the Southern Highlands Golf Club. The three-round tournament runs through Sunday.

Minnesota will try and improve on a 14th place finish last weekend at the Puerto Rico Classic, which boasted a field containing 13 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 50.

The Minnesota men's tennis team plays just one dual this weekend, but it's a big one.

The Gophers (2-9 overall, 0-0 Big Ten), fresh off a 4-3 victory over William & Mary last weekend, get the benefit of opening up their Big Ten slate by hosting No. 2 Ohio State at Baseline Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Buckeyes are the two-time defending Big Ten Champions and enter the weekend with a 23-match conference winning streak.

Former Minnesota head coach David Geatz is currently in his first year as an assistant coach for OSU.
