The University of Minnesota’s Boynton Health Service is replacing its director and chief health officer, Ferdinand Schlapper, for reasons that are currently unclear.

Carl Anderson, Boynton’s chief operating officer, will stand in as interim director and CHO while the University conducts a national search for Schlapper’s replacement, Office for Student Affairs’ director of communications Matt Sumera said. Anderson has served as interim in the past, Sumera said.

Boynton has yet to announce Schlapper’s departure, but his name and photograph had been removed from Boynton’s website as of Monday.

Sumera said Schlapper will no longer serve in the position due to “personnel reasons.” He declined to elaborate.

Schlapper held several leadership positions in health care, including at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Boise State University, before coming to the University in 2011. At the University, he also served as Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs.
