The Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the death of an adult male victim early Tuesday by a still-unidentified shooter near the University of Minnesota’s West Bank campus.

Police say first precinct officers received reports of shots fired on the 1400 block of Washington Avenue S around 12:53 a.m. Tuesday. The report was escalated to a shooting while officers drove to the scene.

The victim, 18-year-old Darrah Host from St. Louis Park, died at Hennepin Healthcare hospital after being transported there in a private vehicle before officers arrived on the scene, officials say.

No suspects have been taken into custody regarding the incident, according to a MPD spokesperson.

The shooting marks the second death in the campus area this week. An altercation near TCF Bank Stadium left one dead on Sunday night
