Friday: "Moulin Rouge"
This early 2000s classic will be playing at the Landmark’s Uptown Theatre all weekend. Just because it won’t be Valentine’s Day anymore, that doesn’t mean love won’t still be in the air. Bring your best friends and wear your cutest heart-themed outfit to watch Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor fall in love. Romance movies the day after Valentine’s Day are totally necessary.
Where: Landmark’s Uptown Theatre, 2906 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis
When: 11:59 p.m.
Saturday: Electric Fetus Valentine Sale
If there's a record you’ve always wanted, this weekend is the time to get it. Electric Fetus’ first sale of the year means 20 percent off almost the entire store from Feb. 13-17. Even if there’s nothing on your wish list, it’s worth checking out. You never know when you might find a sick new band or a witty pair of socks that you don’t already have.

CULTURE TO CONSUME
Listen to this: “Caught It from the Rye” by Tre Burt
This album is the perfect soundtrack for driving your car at dusk, alone on the road. The raspiness in Tre Burt’s voice is unique — it’s controlled, yet freeing. Once you learn the lyrics and know all of the harmonica solos, you’ll feel so good singing along. “Caught It from the Rye” is one of those feel-good albums that you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again. As a whole, it sounds like what spring feels like.
Eat this: Chili
Whether it’s homemade, from a can or frozen, chili is what will save you from all of this incoming snow. It’s hearty with the perfect amount of spice, and you can never go wrong with it. You can serve it over rice, over pasta or just eat it plain. And what’s even better is that a whole slow cooker will probably last you an entire week, perfect to use as an excuse to stay inside until it’s at least 30 degrees.
Do this: Sleep
OK folks, it’s flu season. People are randomly disappearing from classes, only to come back two weeks later with a note from the emergency room. Take care of yourself! Aim to get the eight hours of sleep that your body so desperately wants so it can fight illnesses more effectively. If you’re not worried about getting sick, get your eight hours in anyway. Treat yourself to some quality sleep that you will thank yourself for the next morning.
