Although it was a happy Tuesday night for Minnesota basketball fans with an upset victory over Purdue, one fan’s actions stirred controversy after the game.

The final buzzer sounded and fans began to storm the court when one fan was seen flashing Purdue sophomore Matt Haarms the finger on both hands as Haarms walked off the court, according to Indianapolis Star reporting. Haarms then appeared to push the fan out of his way to get off the court.

A tweeted video shows the incident.

Reactions on Twitter have been overwhelmingly in support of Haarms’ restrained actions because he did not make the situation more explosive than it already was. Responses to the fan’s actions have been highly critical.
