Bratz dolls get a “makeunder”

Sonia Singhi, a mother from Tasmania, is the creator of Tree Change Dolls.

In her spare time, Singhi salvages Bratz dolls from local thrift shops around Tasmania and gives each doll a brand new look.

In the “makeunder” of each doll, Singhi refashions the glammy dolls into natural, childlike toys. She removes overdone makeup, reduces enlarged lips and eyes and completes each look with a personally sewn outfit,  Daily Mail said.

Each outfit is hand made by Singhi’s mother. They are stylish, yet modest for any young girl.

“The results are dolls that look less like overdone '90s pop stars and more like regular girls,”  The Huffington Post said.

On her Tumblr page, Singhi describes her Tree Change Dolls as:

“These dolls have been rescued and rehabilitated from op-shops and tip shops around Tasmania. These lil fashion dolls have opted for a "tree change", swapping high-maintenance glitz 'n' glamour for down-to-earth style. I hand repaint the dolls faces, mold new shoes and my Mum sews and knits their clothing.

My sisters and I grew up playing with second-hand dolls and home-made toys in the beautiful Tasmanian natural environment. I love the satisfaction of repairing and reusing discarded items to give them a new lease on life.”
