Former justice of the peace charged in Texas killings

A former justice of the peace was charged Thursday with murder in the killings of two Texas prosecutors and the wife of one of them.

Eric Williams, 46, is charged in the March killings Kaufman District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia, and the January killing of assistant district attorney Mark Hasse. He was already jailed on charges of making terroristic threats in the aftermath of the killings.

His wife, Kim Williams, was arrested Wednesday and also charged with murder. She allegedly admitted to acting as an accomplice in the killings.

Authorities said Kim Williams was present at both killings and acted as a getaway driver when her husband fatally shot Hasse in January. Eric Williams also shot the McLellands at their Dallas home in March.

McLelland and Hasse successfully prosecuted Eric Williams in 2012 for theft for stealing three computers. He lost his job as justice of the peace following his conviction.

An arrest warrant said Williams blamed McLelland and Hasse for his removal from office and both prosecutors considered him a threat to their safety.
