FBI: Montevideo terror attack disrupted by arrest

The FBI announced Monday that they, along with local authorities, prevented a suspected terror attack by a Monevideo, Minn. Man, according to a press release

Buford Rogers, 24, was arrested Friday and charged with being a felon in posession of a firearm, according to the Associated Press

Federal authorities searched Rogers' western Minnesota mobile home and found Moltov cocktails, suspected pipe bombs and firearms, according to the Associated Press.

The FBI believed a terror attack was in its planning stages, but was thwarted by federal and local authorities, according to the press release.

"The information which we had led us to believe that a terror attack was planned," FBI chief division counsel Kyle A. Loven told the Pioneer Press

Rogers, who was convicted of a felony burglary in 2011 and is not allowed to have a firearm, was scheduled to appear in federal court in St. Paul at 2 p.m. Monday, according to the Star Tribune

"The lives of several local residents were potentially saved," the press release said.
