George Zimmerman helps pull family from overturned SUV

George Zimmerman, the man recently exonerated of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, helped rescue four people from their overturned vehicle Wednesday.

Zimmerman came out of hiding to help a couple and their children, who had flipped their SUV in the neighborhood Zimmerman shot and killed Martin, an unarmed teen, last year. Zimmerman argued at his trial that he shot Martin in self-defense.

Police said Zimmerman didn’t see the crash happen, but he spoke to a deputy at the scene  and then left, the Associated Press reported.

Zimmerman’s attorney and family members have said they fear for his safety after a jury of six women acquitted him in a highly publicized trial.

This was the first time Zimmerman was reportedly seen in public since the trial's conclusion.

President Barack Obama used the recent ruling to speak about race relations in the United States, the Washington Post reported. He said Martin “could have been me 35 years ago.”
