Websites protest the NSA

Reddit, Mozilla, Tumblr and thousands of other websites joined in protest against government surveillance Tuesday, according to news sources.

Nearly 6,000 websites named Feb. 11 “The day we fight back,” according to NPR, and posted banners or alerts urging people to call congress in support of a federal bill called the USA Freedom Act.

The bill was introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and  Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) and would require that data collection be related to a specific investigation or target, according to the Daily Dot.

In 2012, many websites successfully blacked out to protest the SOPA and PIPA anti-piracy acts.
