The Minneapolis Transportation Conference ended Thursday concluding two days of presentations by researchers, businesses and government groups.
University of Minnesota researchers, the Minnesota Department of Transportation and FedEx were a few of the groups that spoke about the future transportation needs in Minnesota.
Speed sensors to improve intersections, 3D maps of streets and switching roadside lights to LEDs were a few of the technologies promoted at the conference. A panel that included University researchers, MnDOT and other organizations spoke Thursday about the need to increase funding for transportation from both the public and private sectors. The group said the key to economic growth in the state is tied to additional investments in the transportation sector.
