Minnesota volleyball brings home a pair of Big Ten weekly awards

Minneapolis – Two senior Gophers volleyball players were given weekly awards from the Big Ten conference this week. Outside hitter Ashley Wittman won Big Ten Player of the Week while middle blocker Tori Dixon won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Both players were recognized for their performances against Michigan and Michigan State this weekend. Wittman led Minnesota with back to back double-doubles, boasted a 0.386 hitting percentage, and averaged 4.7 kills, 4.1 digs, and 0.7 blocks per set. This marks the second time this season Wittman has won the award.

Dixon directed a stout Gophers defense this weekend. She led the Big Ten in blocks this week with 13 while averaging 1.9 blocks per set. Also impressive offensively, Dixon tallied 23 kills while hitting for 0.360 hitting percentage. This marks her fourth Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award this year.
