A Cold Spring, Minn., police officer was fatally shot late Thursday while responding to calls from a family who felt their son may be suicidal, according to a report from the St. Cloud Times.
Police have arrested Ryan Michael Larson, 34, on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to the Associated Press. He is in Stearns County Jail.
Tom Decker, 31, has been identified as the suspect, per the Star Tribune. He leaves behind a wife of about a year and four children from a previous marriage.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension suspects Decker was "ambushed" while reporting to the scene, where he died, according to several reports. He was shot twice in the parking lot of Winner’s Sports Bar & Grill in Cold Spring, according to the St. Cloud Times.
