Gophers’ Connor Reilly to miss season with knee injury

The Gophers men’s hockey strong corps of incoming freshmen got a little thinner Thursday when it was announced that freshman forward Connor Reilly had suffered a season-ending injury.

According to a release from the team, Reilly, who is from Chanhassen, Minn., suffered a knee injury after slipping and falling awkwardly over the weekend. He will have surgery in the near future; however, an exact date has not been decided.

“I’m disappointed for Connor. He’s been working very hard to get back on the ice this year from his previous surgery, and this is an unfortunate setback for him," head coach Don Lucia said in a release. “We have a great medical staff here at the University of Minnesota, and I know they will make sure Connor’s surgery and ensuing rehabilitation go well.”

Connor, along with his twin brother Ryan and brother Mike, formed a rare trio of brothers on Minnesota's squad. Ryan is a forward and Mike is a defenseman.

Before coming to Minnesota, Reilly played for the Penticton Vees of the British Colombia Hockey League, where he ranked seventh in scoring and amassed 86 regular-season points.
