Body recovered from Mississippi River identified as David Miller

The third-year student was reported missing May 11.

A body recovered from the Mississippi River has been identified as missing University student David Miller, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Miller’s remains were discovered by a boater early Wednesday morning near the Ford Parkway Bridge. At around 9 a.m., Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputies recovered his body.

Miller, a third-year student in the College of Biological Sciences, was reported missing last Wednesday afternoon by his roommates.

Last week, more than 70 police officers conducted an unsuccessful, wide-ranging search of the University-area via boats, helicopters, drones and K-9s in order to locate Miller.

Authorities are investigating the cause and manner of his death.
