UMN looks to revamp long-standing lib ed requirements

Now, a University committee is moving forward with overhauling the curriculum, aiming to simplify and clarify the collection of courses mandated for every student on the Twin Cities campus. The Liberal Education Redesign Committee has amped up conversations, meeting with members of the Faculty Consultative Committee last week. The redesign is expected to go into place by the 2020 academic year.

Urban farming to come to Marcy-Holmes

The newly active Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association environmental committee shared urban farming plans last week that would add to a growing movement of community farming in the Twin Cities.

China-funded institute set to close

The University of Minnesota’s Confucius Institute — part of a controversial web of Chinese-backed institutes hosted at universities across the U.S. — will close at the end of the semester.
