Minnesota handles Nebraska-Omaha in season opener

 The Gophers (1-0) defeated Nebraska-Omaha (0-1) 104-76 to begin the 2018-19 campaign. Minnesota was clearly glad to have Amir Coffey back after a shoulder injury cost him much of the 2017-18 season.  Seeing increased playing time at the point, he led the team with 18 points.

When outside hitter Alexis Hart is not enjoying ribs and sausage from Big T’s Barbeque back home in Kansas City, Missouri, she is spending her time as a dominant hitter for the Gophers volleyball team.

Gophers' Cinderella run ends with Big Ten Championship

Minnesota (11-8-2) defeated No. 15 Penn State (15-5-1) 5-4 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw on Sunday at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. The Gophers, who were seeded seventh in the Big Ten tournament, clinched their second Big Ten championship in three seasons.

Minnesota grinds its way to sweep Bemidji State

No. 2 Minnesota (9-2-1, 7-2-1-0) swept Bemidji State (0-9-1, 0-5-1-0), winning 6-3 on Friday and 2-1 on Saturday at Ridder Arena. Head coach Brad Frost said Saturday's game exemplified the rivalry between the Gophers and the Beavers.

Gophers' men's hockey lose first weekend series to Minnesota State

The Gophers (1-3-1) opened up scoring in the first period with a power play goal from forward Rem Pitlick off a pass from Tyler Sheehy. The power play goal, scored in the first six minutes, was the only Minnesota goal tallied. Mankato (7-1) answered with two of its own, and the Mavericks took a 2-1 victory.

Minnesota advances to Big Ten final

Big Ten forward of the year April Bockin is on a tear. In addition to Bockin's two goals Friday, she scored the lone goal in the win over Rutgers last weekend. She has all three of Minnesota's goals in the Big Ten tournament so far.
