The project’s goal is to help create a safer intersection by reducing the number of traffic lanes on East Hennepin Avenue. The city and county plan to bring the project to the Minneapolis City Council in November. If approved, the project would be completed by fall 2020.
The rent price for the Maya Commons is set between $762 and $954 per month.
The four-story building, 20-bedroom apartment building will have five units located at 2624 Essex Ave. SE. in Prospect Park.
“I loved the ability to host people,” said Kelly Carver. “I loved the idea of having this really unique place and being able to call it ours.”
Community members will have a chance to speak one-on-one with project leadership at an open house on Sept. 25.
