Two robbed in Prospect Park

Two people were robbed early Friday morning in Prospect Park near the intersection of 26th and University Avenues Southeast, according to a crime alert sent to University of Minnesota students, staff and faculty Friday. Minneapolis police responded at about 2 a.m. to a call from the victims who were approached by two suspects asking for a cigarette, according to the crime alert. 


U names incoming chief of police

The search for a new leader of the University of Minnesota’s police department is over, University officials announced Tuesday.


U selects new police chief

A new Chief of Police will run the University of Minnesota’s police department, the school announced in a press release Tuesday. Matthew Clark has been a member of the Minneapolis Police Department since 1993, where he has served as the department’s Assistant Chief of Police since 2012. “Matt brings more than two decades in law enforcement, comprehensive leadership experience, and a unique perspective of the University of Minnesota,” said Vice President for University Services Pamela Wheelock in the press release.
