Williams Arena erupted as time seemed to run out on the Gophers upset victory over No. 5 Ohio State.     Then the referees halted the celebration. Minnesota was up 78-76 with a put-back at the buzzer, but .5 seconds were added to the clock.


Minnesota starts season 3-1 in Arizona

The Gophers baseball team opened its season in Surprise, Ariz., over the weekend and won three of four games.     Minnesota’s lineup hit well to open the season, outscoring opponents 31-13 in the four games.  


Gophers four-game winning streak snapped at Indiana

The Gophers four-game winning streak ended Thursday night with a 93-79 loss to Indiana on the road. Minnesota (18-8, 10-5 Big Ten) shot 46 percent from the floor on the night and went just 3-13 from three-point range. The team struggled with fouls all night, and the Hoosiers, who entered the night with the most free throw attempts in the Big Ten, made 28 of 42 shots from the line.
